One of my favorite times to run is during the months of September and October during Oktoberfest. Great races, great friends, and great beers! This is a poem I wrote about Oktoberfest and sharing beers at the end of the race with a running partner. Share this with a friend:
Title: Two Empty Bodies
As the hot summer fades,
and cool temperatures near.
The running season opens
and long runs are in gear.
Take time out of your training
and enjoy a group prost!
Bring yourself, your running shoes,
and give it your most.
I’ll be with you at the starting line
as we await the gun sound,
3,2,1 and we’re off in abound.
We started together,
now I’m gone without a trace.
I’ll have a beer waiting for you,
just don’t get last place.
You finish the race and feel worn out,
sweat-drenched clothes from your hard running bout.
Your face is perplexed,
as you look for your beer,
I have nothing to offer but a simple sneer.
Two empty bodies, two empty pints,
next time race faster and keep me within sight.
To all who race Oktoberfest and all of its prost,
drink, drink, drink, and race for the boast!
Happy Oktoberfest!
